SEASON OF PEACE

THE SEASON OF PEACE

And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed. (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. Luke 2:1-14

Celebrating the Birth of our Lord Jesus Christ is a church tradition that cannot be erased. Christmas has come to stay because it is a season of celebration of the wonderful works of God on earth. The birth of Jesus was unique, among all men that had lived and will ever live on earth, no child was and is born without the coming together of the man and the woman. But Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit by a virgin and He was born and announced by the angels to the shepherds.

The angel did not announce his birth in the palace nor was his birth announced among the nobles but the first group of people that knew his arrival on earth were the commoners, the set of people that sleep on the farm. Jesus himself was born in the manger, not in a five-star hospital or hotel. The set of people and the place where he was born were carefully selected by God because his assignment on earth will be to find the lowly and lift them.

The angels appeared, the glory shown around the people and the angels came with this message: Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men. The prince of peace brought peace to a world full of chaos and crisis. Prophet Isaiah referred to Jesus as the prince of peace and that is exactly who he is. Isaiah 9:6  For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Therefore, the Christmas season is a season of peace and that shall be your experience throughout this season of celebration.

Perhaps you are going through a certain situation that is making life difficult for you. I want you to connect to the reason for the season and invite the prince of peace into that situation.  As you are celebrating, there shall be no occasion for crisis, chaos, and war around you again.

We use this celebration period to pray for the nations that are experiencing war right now, the Prince of Peace shall take over and there shall be peace in those regions. Amen. An end has come to every form of marital crisis, health problem, financial crisis, and whatever form of turbulence that you are passing through, peace shall reign again. Amen.

Merry Christmas.
