Work out your Salvation with Fear and Trembling.

Work out your Salvation with Fear and Trembling.
Philippians 2:12
…” Work out your salvation with fear and trembling”
The fear that Apostle Paul was referring to here is to be afraid or to be in horror or to be terrified.
Fear was translated from the Greek context that means “reverence” or “respect.” Paul uses the same phrase in (2 Corinthians 7:15) where he refers to Titus as being encouraged by the Corinthians’ reception of him “with fear and trembling,” that is, they have great respect and humility for him as a minister of God and respect his position as one who spreads the gospel of Jesus Christ. Paul said he came to the Corinthian church in “weakness and fear, and with much trembling” (1 Corinthians 2:3), being mindful of the great and awesome nature of the work in which he was engaged.
Working out your salvation in fear and trembling can be done in two ways, ‘work out’ as a verb means “to keep working to bring something to completion or fruition.” You do this by actively pursuing obedience in the light of holiness and sanctification, which Paul further explained in the book of Philippians where he describes himself as “straining” and “pressing on” toward the goal of Christlikeness (Philippians 3:13-14). The “trembling” Paul experienced and taught is the attitude that Christians are to have in pursuing this goal. The healthy fear of offending God through disobedience and an awe and respect for His majesty and holiness. “Trembling” in this passage can be synonymous with shaking as a result of weakness but this kind of weakness is the one which keeps us to be dependent on God. Therefore, be obedient and submit to God whom you revere and respect. That will be your “reasonable service” according to Romans 12:1-2 which will give you great joy.
In conclusion, work out your salvation by going to the very source of your salvation—the Word of God—wherein you renew your hearts and minds by appearing in His presence with a spirit of reverence and awe.
