IT IS ENOUGH
IT IS ENOUGH
And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow. And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.
1Chronicles 4:9-10
The story of Jabez in the Bible is significant because it illustrates that no one is beyond asking for a change in their life situation, especially when they feel that what they are going through is not the best that God had planned for them.
Jabez, from his name, which perhaps tells the entire story of his conception and birth, had no reason to be called a blessed one. Nobody knows the specific time that his prayer was recorded, maybe he had been married with children. Whatever the time, one thing was certain: the man grew tired of his situation and asked God for an end to the negative issues surrounding his life. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition… 1 Corinthians 10:11. Anything that you have read about in the bible is for us to follow if it is a good example. If it is bad, we are to learn from it and do the opposite. From the story of this man, we can learn that no matter how long a situation may be, we are not to accept a negative situation as our status quo it can always be changed. Through prayer, you can put an end to whatever you do not want.
What are the steps that you can take if you want a change:
- Speak boldly against the situation. What you do not want, you do not watch. Your mouth is a bank of words full of authority, open your mouth as speak. And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. Mark 11:22-23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
- Speak in faith. Whatever you are believing God for must be backed up by your faith. If your finances is challenged or you have a challenge in the area of your health and it is affecting your family happiness, make sure you pray in faith. James 1:6-7 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. For your answer to come with speed you must have faith.
- Ask for mercy. If the reason for the negative situation that you are facing has to to do with your mistakes of the past, you can ask God to have mercy on you. The cry of mercy will always reach the throne of God. Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
In conclusion, when things are going the way you do not like or expect, rise up and declare: IT IS ENOUGH.
