Perilous times are flourishing times for the saints – Part 1
Perilous times are flourishing times for the saints – Part 1
The perilous times spoken of repeatedly in the scriptures are here with us with all manner of evil happenings in the land, apostasy in the church and untold hardship upon the people in diverse places. Needless for anyone to tell us again that we are at the very end of the last days. 2 Timothy 3:1-5, Matthew 24:4-8.
All the indicators are here with us, and almost everything spoken by Jesus has come to pass. We’ve been seeing them gradually over the past several decades but the intensity is getting stronger by the day. We have seen wars, famine, pestilence (Covid 19 readily comes to mind) famine, and religious sacrileges of unbelievable proportions to prove the prophecies concerning apostasy.
Right now in the global sphere, there’s a great battle and desperation among men to survive against the onslaught of famine, unprecedented inflation, economic downturn, and financial crisis. No nation on earth is left without being touched by the ongoing challenges as prices of mainstay supplies of human needs have hit the roof. It’s becoming unbearable everywhere as the scourge is biting harder on a daily basis.
How shall we escape these calamities? What can we do to remain buoyant and flourishing in these very hard times? Of course, the scripture also has given us a clearer way of escape from these calamities. There’s a place we stand in the covenant that exempts us and puts us in a place of security in such a time like this. The Word of God is very clear on what our portion will be amid this large-scale unfortunate happening worldwide.
We must always know that God cannot and will never leave us unprotected and uncared for in these times of global hardship. We have a divine insurance as provided by God that keeps us afloat in these times of crisis, but we must be ready to take or seize the opportunities provided for us to escape.
Remember, things will get tougher no prayer can avert it, the proud will be brought to their knees, and those who seem to have all it takes will be grounded and broken, oh yes, but the faithful in Christ shall survive and prevail just as Israel of old prevailed in the land of Egypt amid intense and cruel persecution. The people of God will surely blossom and flourish in these times. Exodus 1:7,12
The scriptural platform of our triumph in these perilous times:
1. Job 22:29 – When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting; and he shall save the humble person.
2. Psalm 37:18-19 – The Lord knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever. They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.
3. Malachi 4:1-2 – For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.
4. Psalm 33:18-19 – Behold, the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy; to deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.
5. Job 5:20-22 – In famine he shall redeem thee from death: and in war from the power of the sword. Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue: neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh. At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh: neither shalt thou be afraid of the beasts of the earth.
