Looking ahead
This new year is a time to look AHEAD AND GO AHEAD. That is, look into the future with a positive mindset. Those who look ahead will definitely go ahead at all times.
Surely, it is a loaded year with great opportunities waiting for all of us, but we must possess the right frame of mind to make the best of this year 2025. Therefore, we are not to look backward, sideways, or down in any way; otherwise, we shall remain grounded and incapacitated in the new year.
- Looking backward means looking at the failures of yesterday and last year. It is tantamount to murmuring and complaining. Nobody ever goes forward murmuring and complaining – 1 Corinthians 10:10, Luke 17:32
- Looking down means looking at your errors and mistakes and also, it means being in a state of regrets. You can’t allow that in the new year. It’s like crying over spilled milk. It’s gone and it’s gone. 2 Samuel 12:20-23
- Looking sideways means being a victim of distractions here and there. No, that is not needed. You can’t go ahead with a lack of focus. Matthew 6:22, 1 Kings 20:40
To look ahead, what are we expected to do?
- Look unto Jesus – Hebrews 12:2
For everything this year, we must remember to look unto Jesus, the author and the finisher of our faith – He is the Alpha and The Omega, The beginning and The End. Whatever you want to do this year, make sure you put Jesus Christ in the equation. Will Jesus approve of it? Will the name of The Lord be glorified? - Lift your eyes unto Him for genuine help – Psalm 121:1-2 He is the real help you are looking for. Keep your eyes on Him for help. Remember, He’s the present help in times of trouble. Psalm 46:1-3. His help is always available, it’s more sure than any other help. So to look ahead this year for you to go ahead this year, keep your eyes on Him.
- Listen to Him. Job 22:22, Psalm 85:8 There are so many voices out there saying all manner of things but if there’s anyone to listen to right now that should be the voice of the Lord, this makes you move ahead and progress. Have you ever thought of it? At the very beginning of the year, the Lord might be saying some things to you concerning your Rehoboth. Please listen to Him. You need to take time to hear God very early this year to receive divine guidance and divine direction.
- Obey Him for you to go ahead. Deuteronomy 28:1-2 More than ever before, this is the season to obey whatever He has told you to do because therein lies your progress, prosperity, and breakthroughs. Whatsoever, He tells you to do, do it – John 2:5. Get it done with all your heart and with all your strength, and in so doing, you will surely go ahead.
- Pray ahead and speak ahead. Matthew 12:37, Acts 14:3 To go ahead very early this year, pray ahead, speak ahead with all boldness. That is speak positive things, pray positive things into your life in the name of Jesus. Be bold about it. Declare positive things, and progressive words, and do it very boldly. Don’t speak down or negatively. Don’t speak the word impossible, let it be far away from your mouth because you can only have whatever you say – Mark 11:23
In preparation for going ahead, let’s pray the prayers on the Prayer Altar.
